Eating Disorder Treatment in Florida
Outpatient medication management for medically stable adults, by secure video from anywhere in Florida.
Food may take up more of your thinking than you’d like: planning, counting, avoiding, or feeling out of control and ashamed afterward. You might already be working with a therapist or dietitian and wondering whether anxiety, low mood, or obsessive thoughts are making recovery harder.
Common experiences
Constant thoughts about food, weight, or body shape
Strict rules about what, when, or how much you eat
Episodes of eating that feel out of control
Making up for eating by vomiting, fasting, or over-exercising
Anxiety, low mood, or irritability around meals
Skipping social plans that involve food
Feeling that your worth depends on your weight or shape
Anxiety, depression, or obsessive thoughts that get in the way of recovery
Eating disorders are serious health conditions, not choices.
Eating disorders grow out of a mix of genetics, brain chemistry, personality, stress, and culture. They often travel with anxiety, depression, OCD, or trauma, and they can affect the heart, bones, and other organs, which is why care works best with a team.
They aren’t about vanity or willpower, and they affect people of every age, gender, and body size. Recovery is possible, and reaching out is a meaningful step.
Where we fit in your care
Mode Psychiatry provides outpatient psychiatric medication management for medically stable adults. We work alongside your therapist, primary care provider, and dietitian, who remain central to your eating disorder treatment. We don’t provide eating disorder therapy or medical monitoring. If you’re medically unstable or need more support than outpatient care can safely offer, we’ll refer you to a higher level of care, such as an intensive outpatient, residential, or hospital program.
How care works at Mode Psychiatry
Good psychiatric care takes time, teamwork, and honest explanations. Here is what that looks like for you.
Time to tell the whole story
Your first visit is a full 60 minutes, so we understand your history and what matters to you before recommending anything.
Decisions made together
You set the pace. We talk through the options, and nothing changes in your plan without your input.
Clear answers in plain language
You’ll know what your diagnosis means, why a treatment is suggested, and what to watch for. Ask anything, at any visit.
Your first visit: understanding the whole picture
Your first appointment is a 60-minute psychiatric evaluation. We’ll also ask for recent vital signs and lab results from your primary care provider, since safe prescribing depends on them.
What the evaluation covers
Your eating patterns, thoughts about food and your body, and how long they’ve been part of your life
Medical and psychiatric history, including anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma
Medications you’ve tried before, and how they worked
Sleep, energy, and daily functioning
Your current care team and support system, with your permission to coordinate with them
Your treatment plan may include
Medication management when clinically appropriate, often for the anxiety, depression, or obsessive thoughts that come with an eating disorder
Coordination with your therapist, primary care provider, and dietitian
Education about how medication fits into eating disorder recovery
Regular follow-ups to track progress and adjust
Referral to a higher level of care whenever it’s needed
Medication is one tool, used with a clear purpose. It supports the work you do with your care team; it doesn’t replace it.

No. Our role is psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Eating disorder treatment works best with a team, so we coordinate closely with your therapist, primary care provider, and dietitian. If you don’t have a team yet, we can help you find one.

It means your vital signs, lab results, and weight are in a range your medical provider considers safe for outpatient care. If there are warning signs, such as fainting, a very slow heart rate, or abnormal labs, a higher level of care comes first, and we’ll help you get there.

Medication can be useful for some eating disorders and for the anxiety, depression, or obsessive thoughts that often come with them. It’s one part of a broader plan, never a stand-alone fix. We’ll talk through whether it makes sense for you.
-
It’s a 60-minute video visit. We’ll go over your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, past medications, sleep, and daily life, and talk about what you’d like to be different. Medication may come up, but no decision is forced or rushed. You’ll leave with clear next steps and a follow-up date.

Yes. We’re in network with Aetna, Cigna, Oscar, and UnitedHealthcare through Headway, and self-pay is available. We’ll verify your coverage before your first visit, so you know what to expect.
